ABOUT FINCA LA LIBÉLULA
Far from the main tourist track at the head of a rich, fertile valley in the Low Alpujarra, Finca La Libélula is a wonderfully rustic hideaway nestling amid five acres of ancient farmland. It's reached via 1km of unpaved road close to the sleepy hamlet of Tijola, with the market town of Orgiva just 6km away for shops, restaurants and other holiday essentials.
This dearly-loved family home was originally an old stable, cleverly converted and extended by its owners, with attention to detail and thoughtful extras throughout. Interiors are simple and stylish with whitewashed walls, terracotta floors and complementary furnishings. Shelves are generously stocked with books, DVDs and board games. Family essentials like cots, highchairs, toys etc can also be provided.
Patio doors open out to stone terraces, offering welcoming spots for alfresco dining and comfy corners for escaping the midday sun. Sweeping grounds are a mix of pretty gardens and olive groves, with a small children's play area. Once exceptional feature is the 8 x 5 m saltwater swimming pool, overlooking the Sierra Nevada Mountains and securely fenced and gated for toddlers.
What's so special about the property is the natural setting, remarkably secluded and private with wild, untamed countryside all around – an idyllic location for exploring on foot and home to all kinds of wildlife, so a fantastic holiday choice for walkers and bird-watchers as well as families.
